JYH News & Updates - September 4, 2025
Back to Hockey Night - September 11
Can you believe it's almost the start of the 2025-2026 hockey season? We're kicking things off with Back to Hockey Night on September 11 at Craig High School (enter through door #42 on the south side of the building, the large auditorium entrance).
6U and 8U levels will meet first at 5:30 p.m. and 10U, 12U, and 14U levels will meet after at 6:45 p.m.
Our Board of Directors will go through important information for the new season and we'll have JYH merchandise available for sale!
All families who attend Back to Hockey Night will receive 1 volunteer hour.
Preseason Practices
Preseason practices are listed below. Players will be added to these preseason groups and the times will be added to the Crossbar Schedule.

- 5:00 - 6:00 pm: 10U and 12U Girls
- 6:15 - 7:15 pm: 10U
- 7:30 - 8:45 pm: 12U and 14U

- 6:15 - 7:15 pm: 10U
- 7:30 - 8:45 pm: 12U and 14U

- 5:00 - 6:00 pm: 10U and 12U Girls

Evaluations will take place the following week (September 22-25) and specific dates and times will be available soon.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - Janesville Jets Liaison
The JYH Board is working on a number of partnerships with the Janesville Jets this year for revenue generation for the club, and we need a volunteer who will coordinate all of these amazing opportunities. This will include working with the Janesville Jets on developing a list of needs and then securing volunteers for those tasks.
We're calling this position the "Janesville Jets Liaison." The individual who volunteers for this position will receive their full volunteer hours for the year.

Pucks & Pints - September 13, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Raise a glass of Rock County Brewing Company's NEW Hockey Beer starting on September 13 at the Pucks & Pints event! The brewery is partnering with JYH so a portion of every purchase goes directly to JYH, with the mission to keep hockey accessible for kids in our community.
See you on September 13 at Rock County Brewing Company, 10 N Parker Dr, Janesville, WI, for the first official pour at 4:30 pm! The event runs 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., so stay and have some fun with your hockey friends and family.
Break the Ice Bash - Volunteer Sign Up
Planning for Break the Ice Bash is well underway, and we are now ready for volunteers to sign up for slots! This will be a great way to knock out some of your volunteer hours for the season and help the club put on a fun, new event!
To find volunteer opportunities in Crossbar you will need to be logged into the website (not the app). Follow these steps if you're on your phone:
- Click the 3 lines in top left then select account
- Click the down arrow
- Click Volunteer
- Browse the open opportunities and then select more information
- To sign up for the shift; push the green plus.
If you're on a computer, you will click on account at the top of the page. You will then click on Volunteer in the options on the left side of the page, and then follow the same directions above from there.

Break the Ice Bash 3v3 Tournament
Be part of history as we break in the brand-new Woodman’s Sports & Convention Center with a fast-paced, action-packed 3v3 hockey tournament on September 27 and 28! Games will take place across two full sheets of ice all weekend long — plus, enjoy the Break the Ice Bash happening in the convention space.
Age and Skill Levels:
- 10U Elite - 2 or more A players on team
- 10U Open - B/C players
- 10U Girls - All Girls
- 12U Elite - 2 or more A players on team

Try Hockey For Free - September 13, 10:30 a.m. to Noon
Join us at the Janesville Ice Arena for Try Hockey For Free on September 13 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, a fun and exciting opportunity for kids ages 4-9 to experience the sport of hockey.
- No experience necessary – this event is perfect for beginners!
