Lennie Childs Named Janesville Jets Official Head Coach & GM

The Janesville Jets announced a coaching change effective immediately. Former Jets forward and associate head coach Lennie Childs will be returning to the team as head coach and general manager.

March 3 End of Season Party

We’re inviting all teams to an End of Season Party at the Janesville Ice Arena on March 3. Pizza and soda/water will be available for players attending. This is a way for us to get everyone together, to allow the kids to have some fun on the ice, and for us to show our appreciation to the kids and families.

Intro to Hockey, 6U, and 8U players will have open ice time from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Players 10U and older will have open ice time from 7:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

During the scheduled times, all players who are borrowing equipment from the club will be required to return the equipment to the Equipment Manager. This will allow the club to have an accurate inventory of equipment as we move into the Woodman’s Sports & Convention Center later this year. We will also be able to plan if any additional equipment will need to be purchased or replaced.

If you’re not able to attend this event, please make alternate arrangements to return your equipment. Email correspondence will not be accepted. If a player still needs the equipment, the Equipment Manager will have the ability to reissue the equipment that day.

If there is any missing equipment, families will be charged within one week after the event.


JYH with the Jets

Please mark the following dates in your calendars for JYH activities with the Janesville Jets:

  • 8U Night at the Jets - February 21, 2025
  • Girls Night at the Jets - April 12, 2025

Kids wearing JYH apparel will get into the games for free.


Try Hockey For Free

We will be hosting Try Hockey for Free on February 22, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon, and the Jets players will be serving as on-ice help. Encourage family and friends to sign up online: https://tryhockeyforfree.com/event_detail/3544.

Board Elections

It’s that time of year again! JYH is looking for committed members to join the Board of Directors. This year we have 6 open spots. It is a great opportunity to help grow and develop the program. A successful youth sports organization must have a strong board, and that is why JYH is looking for individuals that have no problem going above and beyond. All the open positions will serve a 3-year term.  

To apply to be a JYH Board member you must submit a biography to the JYH Secretary. This Bio should include your reasoning for wanting to be a Board member, some background information about yourself, statement of commitment, and a few pictures. These bios will be sent out to the membership and posted at the rink. Bios should be emailed to secretary@janesvilleyouthhockey.com by February 21, 2025. The election process will be done online the week of March 3-7.

Interested in becoming a referee for next season?

Starting with the 2024-2025 season, JYH implemented a process to select new hockey officials.

Due to the number of officials we currently have and to make sure that our officials get enough games to be proficient, we are limiting the number of new officials next season to 3. Each year we will determine how many new officials we want to bring into the group to balance the mix of experience and referees necessary to cover our games.

If you are interested in becoming an official for next season, send Ed Chady an email at eschady@yahoo.com by March 16th with your name, birthdate, name of your current head coach, and why you want to become an official. Preference will be given to officials that are 2013 birth year or older.

Next steps may include an interview process to narrow down the pool of candidates. If selected, participants will have to go through all of the normal process to become an official and will have an expectation that they have all requirements completed except for the referee clinic by the end of August. We hope to incorporate new officials into the Summer Sunday Night Lights games to gain experience prior to the next season. Existing officials will continue to be eligible to officiate for JYH.
