Frequently Asked Questions
Does JYH provide equipment?
- Yes. JYH provides equipment for all players through 8U. This equipment must be returned and if it is not returned a $150 deposit will be charged to the card on file. Requests for equipment from older age levels will be taken into consideration based on need and availability.
Does my player have to tryout?
- Yes. Tryouts are typically the first week in October. Once tryouts have concluded, a team selection committee will place players on teams for the season. It is the goal of the JYH Team Selection Committee to place kids on the same team as other players of similar skill and ability. This philosophy helps ensure proper growth and development.
Does JYH offer scholarships to help offset player dues?
- Yes. JYH offers scholarships to those who may need assistance with player fees. If interested in a scholarship form Click Here. Then email the completed form to JYH President Dan Jensen at president@janesvilleyouthhockey.com
If my player picks a number this year, can they pick a different number next year?
- No. Once you pick your number this year, you will keep this number for the remainder of your time with JYH. Certain exceptions can be made based on the availability of a particular number. No player will be forced to change their number.
Does Skills and Drills cost extra money?
- No. Skills and Drills is part of your association dues and is an opportunity for kids to get some ice before tryouts. Skills and Drills is for 10U-14U only and will offer numerous guest coaches and instructors. Attendance is not mandatory but highly encouraged.
Will there be any Jr. Fury Hockey Teams this season?
- Hopefully. Every year JYH has to wait to see how many girls register and if the numbers support a full team. Adequate coaches is also a major consideration to the formation of a full time girls team. Once registration is closed and tryouts start, JYH should have a better idea of Jr. Fury team numbers.
- For any additional information regarding the Jr. Fury program or girls hockey in general, please reach out to JYH Girls Coordinator Ed Chady girls@janesvilleyouthhockey.com
Please reach out to JYH President Dan Jensen or JYH Hockey Development Director Justin Wiskie for any questions.
